Actually I bet you will find that that text file is your game file. Instead of arriving as an attachment, it is embedded in the body of the email. You can probably copy the file to note pad and save it as a cpf, bte, or what ever file type it is supposed to be. Or Lars could 'ZIP' it as an attachment. Sometimes ISP 's are funny that way. LARS may want to look at his email settings. [:)]

I thought about jumping in here as Lars was my West Point instructor, but figured I'd just let him explain. But I see my good friend my be otherwise engaged, so I will offer my thoughts.

Gen Driscoll is quite right and what you are seeing should be the game file. Does it look something like this...

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="3" face="book antiqua" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">7js$kni}

This is part of a file I just recieved from my current game. There still should be an attachment and what you are seeing is your mail program trying to read and display it.

I also exchange the files in this manner as my internet mail account will not accept 'zip' files and deletes messages with those attachments.

Lars switched to Vista during our training sessions and there was some security setting that was not allowing him to 'zip' files. I switched to another mail account and sent the next file 'zipped' and he said it was a nightmare for him to open. So we went back to the raw file exchange. I guess he never figured out the problem, but in most cases the files should work just fine.

You should be able to zip the files, then just rename the file extention to z__ or anything but Zip...then when you get it rename it back to zip and away you go. This should bypass the security stuff.

Thank you for the advice Rich. [:D] Trying to explain how to do that to others can be a problem sometimes. [8D]

I pretty sure Lars told me he had to exit into safe mode to try and use his 'zip' program. He of course could explain his computer issue better then me, I was just trying to explain why I think he was sending the files in that fashion. I've never used Vista so couldn't even begin to offer him advice. Maybe once he shows up someone can help get him sorted if it's still the same issue. [:)]

May be a problem if he installed the games in Program Files too. Programs there are protected and don't like to be moved and such. Best to install games in a user-made directory named Games or something.

I had to reinstall the game under C: instead of C:\Program Files, that did the trick...
