American Civil War Game Club (ACWGC)

This afternoon, my puppy (Brittany Spaniel) and I took our first walk at Spotsylvania Battlefield -- from the Bloody Angle to McCoul's Farmhouse and over to the monument to Ramseur's Brigade of North Carolinians. Copper, the dog, is almost three months old and handled the trails just fine -- except for the little creek flowing from McCoul's spring. I don't think he ever saw a stream before. I had to jump to the other side to entice him into the water. After that it was play time!

The Park Service has done a lot of work at Spotsylvania Battlefield over the winter -- new road, new parking, new walks, new interpretive signs, they did some contolled burns to keep the fields in shape, and they blocked vehicular access to the east angle. The park is in great shape except for the inexorable march of development.

Anyway, its a great place to take your dog. [:D]

Thanks for the report. It has been 16 years since I have been there and I have been longing to return. Glad to hear they are doing a lot to maintain the site. Glad you and the pup had a good visit!
