Post subject: Cabinet Elections to fill CSA CoA and Secretary

Gentlemen of the South,

Currently, both the Chief of the Army and the Cabinet Secretary positions are being filled on an interim basis by Generals Alan Lynn and Ed Stewart, respectively.

As per Club Rule 3.3.5.1 (below), a special election is needed to fill those positions permanently.

"3.3.5.1 If a vacancy occurs in a Cabinet Secretary seat—either through voluntary resignation or through removal by vote of the Cabinet—the Club President will appoint an interim replacement for the removed member to serve as Interim until a special election can be held. If fewer than three months remain in the unfulfilled term, the interim replacement can retain the seat until the next regular election."

This is notice of the special election to fill the CSA Chief of the Army spot, with a remaining term to Dec 31, 2009, and the Cabinet Secretary seat with a term to Dec 31, 2008.

The President has appointed an Election Committee of General Jeff Laub (chair), and Generals Ernie Sands and Robert Weir.

The schedule for elections will be as follows:

Nominations will open at 0001 (that's 1 minute after midnight) PDT Sunday April 20th, and run for 1 week. A separate post will be coming to solicit and detail the nominations process.

Campaigning will commence immediately following for 1 week (27 April - 3 May).

Voting will be for 1 week immediately following campaigning (May 4th - May 10th).

Thanks in advance, and Happy Elections![8D]

The winners of the elections would take office immediately upon the results being announced. Typically it has taken a day or two to tally the final results.

On a calendar, that would put it around May 12th...

If there were only 1 nominee for a position, then it could be two weeks earlier, April 27th.
