I thought only units in column could cross a creek hexside that has a pike going over it - not a bridge, just the pike crossing simulating a bridge. But I just melees a dismounted cavalry unit that was on one side of said creek and it retreated - still in line, disrupted but not routed - over to the other side of the creek instead of moving parallel to the creek and staying on the same side. I suppose the miraculously formed column to cross the bridge while under fire and reformed into line on the other side? [:)]

It is HPS Gettysburg, "the gaps to manassas.map" map, hex (111,37) to start, winding up in hex (112,37). I meleed from the hexes NW and SW of (111,37) and assumed the enemy unit would retreat into hex (112,36) but it instead crossed the creek.

Just seeking some clarification as to why they were able to cross the creek while in line as the result of a melee if they cannot do so during a movement turn. Thanks.

AFAIK, if it does not show a bridge there is no bridge.

Hi, General,

I duplicated the conditions and it happened for me too. I recommend notifying tech support.

Hi, Ernie,

If you get down to 3D you can see the bridge. It is one of those indestructible bridges they had over every creek in the Civil War.[:)]

Which is why I thought they should not be able to cross the creek in retreat. [:)]
