This is off the subject but you guys may be able to help me. I want to get hold of some navy whites you know the uniform that Tom Cruise wore in top gun or Ross in Friends. As I said in the header I know you guys take your time in the services very seriously so please do not take offence. I am going to a party and have to dress in something begining with S so I thought American sailor and then my wife said how sexy the white uniform looked. I think she is going to go as a saloon girl or She Devil So guys do you know where I can get hold of some whites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in the UK.

Hi, General,

I think we have some navy guys here. I was a Marine. Probably haven't heard from the squids cause the ones I remember were so huge if you borrowed their uniform you'd have to go as s shelter instead of a sailor. [:D]

Go down to the local dock. Wait for a US ship. Welcome US sailors, and invite one to local pub. Get him drunk. Need I go on... hehehe...

You can purchase them right off the INTERNET, just do a google search on US Navy Officer dress white uniforms. As long as you do not wear the actual military rank insignia it is fine to wear them to a party. [:D]

I'm a SEABEE(educated marine), and I always liked the blues more than the whites.

Mark,

It was even easier than that. US Postale employees are encouraged to not drink wearing thier uniform, so many drink naked. I just swiped a uniform set laying outside the a nearby local establishment.

BTW, don't go drinking with your letter carrier, it may not be a pretty sight. (see above) hehehe...

Hi Mike,
Thought that there's no such thing as once a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine [:)]. Like David I'm a retired Seabee "Dirt Sailor". In all of my years in the Navy I hardly wore my dress uniforms, most of the time we wore are utility greens, Greens as we called them. But as David said the Dress Blues are the best uniform around. Besides know what S*^T sounds like going through a fan "MARINE" [:p]

I actually just gave away my whites last weekend - I retired after 20 years with the Navy.

It is a good looking uniform!

Sorry, Frank! If I could have sent the whites your way, I would have!

The dress blues I'm keeping![;)]

Nick, thanks! It was a great ceremony, held on the USS Turner Joy along the Bremerton waterfront. Lots of old shipmates, friends and family there for the big day, and the entire weekend was basically a Navy party, starting Friday night on through Sunday! Should've taken Monday off to recover, this old body can't handle it like I used to!
