Post subject:  Peculiar problem at Dept of Records

I just tried to register a CAMPAIGN BATTLE in HPS GB...I selected HPS Gettysburg, then when the next screen came up I chose "Campaign" and then left "battle" the default BUT instead of the blanks to insert the players names being BLANK..both the Reb and the Yank blanks were already filled in with the first officer of the Confederate Army...Mark Adams? Then when I changed those to the correct names for our battle...the next two blanks for the 3rd and 4th player were filled in with the same Mark Adams??

I have registered dozens of games so I know I didn't do it incorrectly. And BTW there seems to be no way to actually remove a name from a blank...you can only chose a different name...so I couldn't simply remove the entries in the 3rd and 4th slot? and further...that name is repeated in EVERY BLANK ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR EVERY MULTIPLAYER SLOT?? Adams, Mark...moondoggie or something like that?

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Thanks

Happened to me yesterday, registering a non-campaign scenario from the new Antietam disk . . . Mister Adams appears to be a busy man.

The same happened in submitting a multiplayer BG Gettysburg.
It sounds like a conspiracy to me for Mark Adams to get plenty of points!![:D]

There is simply a blank first entry missing in the pulldown menus ... but why that's so, who knows?

Sorry folks.

It really has no impact on your games.

I made some adjustments and those had some unforeseen results.

I am working to resolve the problem, but want to do so in a fashion that does not create another glitch.

The program defaulted to DUMMY and to Don Adams.

It will be corrected, soon and all those errors will melt away.

Ernie...you say <b>"It really has no impact on your games." </b> Does that mean we CAN still register and end games and make campaign result comments EVEN IF Moondoggie shows as players number 3,4,5,etc...?? Or should we just be patient and wait until you can fix it so that our game records won't be tarnished by General Adams being an unwilling partner in our battle? [B)]

I can certainly can wait for the fix...but I am curious about why you say <font color="red"><b>It really has no impact on your games.</b></font id="red"> IF Moondoggie will show in the "MY GAMES" report?

Not busting your chops Ernie...you know I am a grateful fan...it is just a curiosity.

Thanks as always for the long-suffering but always cheerful service. From now on, to me, you will always be: <b>Ernie "The Fixer" Sands </b>[:D]

Ernie the problem continues to persist.

There has been a change however, Gen. Don Adams 5/1/III, ANV has been replaced by Lt. Gen. Mark Adams ././I, AotM as the omnipresent being in every empty slot in a games records.

Edit: (after looking at some more records it seems that <font color="red">Lt. Gen. Mark Adams ././I, AotM </font id="red">and <font color="red">Gen. Don Adams 5/1/III, ANV </font id="red">both are showing up as well as <font color="red">. dummy dummy ././., .</font id="red"> and <font color="red">Gen. . . ././., .</font id="red">)

This is having a negative impact when reading the Reports. It is also worrying that all these different update anomalies and insertion anomalies are all present at the same time. It seems like the DoR needs to be normalized so as to make it adhere to the demands of the normal forms. Removal of redundancies of the tables will lead to several tables, with referential integrity restrictions between them.
