Say, I just picked these up, in an online auction, and was curious which is easier to learn and get going with and/or which is better?

Don't own Forge of Freedom but I'm playing AACW and I think it is a really good game. They are constantly working on it to improve it also.

Hi mark, thanks for the reply. Did you find it fairly easy to pick up without feeling lost?

Well there are a few concepts that take some getting used to but there are some tutorials that make it easier. I figure if I can pick it up then anyone else can probably do it too. There are a lot of good threads on the AGEOD forum that I looked through that helped some and there is a AACWiki also. Try these links:

Forge of Freedom is easiest than AACW but absolutely not historical or realistic.
AACW is not as complicate, but you must accept to not have control on everything.
you give orders then the story start.
Some time you could be frustrate by battles results but on the full war that not very important.
my dream would be to be able to play battle with HPS system.
It's perhaps not impossible if a lot of ask for.

with Forge of Freedom there is a tactical module but is better to forget it.

My thoughts too. It's kinda like driving a Corvette and then deciding to dive another "vette" before realizing it's just a Chevette. [:D]

Mark - Thanks for the links; I'll definitely read through the info.

Bill and Boyd - Thank y'all as well for the insight. The new V.M.I. instructor has graciously offered to work with me on a pbem game too. Nicely done all, thanks again!

Boyd and Forest,
As one of the developers of "Forge of Freedom" (and occasional visitor to this forum), I am wondering if your impressions are based on the game as it was after release, or since the last major patch. There have been a number of people posting on the Matrix forum in recent months to say that they gave up on the game when it was released, but are quite pleased with the improvements. So, if you haven't played in a while, you might want to patch up one of these days and see if you still have the same opinion. And, if you HAVE played, I'd be curious to know what improvements we might consider when we do the expansion that we are informally planning. Thanks.
