Can someone either email me or post here any info on ACW naval combat rules or games. Are there any computer simulated games out there? any board games or is it all miniatures rules?

thanks in advance

I'm not aware of any ACW naval combat computer games. Yaquinto had an excellent boardgame out in the early 80's, still play it occasionally with a friend. Unfortunately it is no longer available although you may be able to find it on sale at Ebay from time to time. What you want is the original Ironclads game and the Expansion pack that extends the Ironclads system to 1879, adds ships from all the major European powers of the same time period, new battles, and some new optional rules. Be prepared to pay an outrageous price though, last time I saw one there it went for over $100.

There is a Yahoo discussion group for Ironclad enthusiasts, these are mostly minatures players. You can reach them by going to Yahoo, then Groups and search for ironclads.

Along with the Ironclads game from Yaquinto, there was a game from 3W along the same line called Shot and Shell.

General I believe you will find 3-4 naval games in the Shiloh game list.

Still have my copies of Ironclads and Expansion. The Expansion did add the European Powers; anyone for the 'Black Prince' but also the South American Navy. I believe Chile and Peru. I love playing it. the rules are a bit 'buggy' but the detail was very good on ship combat. The Ship cards reminded me of those from AH Tobruk game. 15" Dahlgrens are nice.[:o)]

Looks like an awesome game and certainly something that the Club should think about adding to our list of games supported here at the ACWGC.

From the looks of the english being written I would have to say it seems like this company is other than an English speaking origin (Russia?). Never the less, the graphics look outstanding, the feeling is of a real time action. Something to keep an eye on. Nice find Gary.

<font color="beige">I received the following reply from Totem Games:

<i>Hello Nick,

It is now difficult to name date of an output of game. Still more many. Watch news on our site. Cost of a copy of game will be not more dear 40 $. Game is by mail difficultly compatible to dynamics of game. We do not plan game through e-mail.

Yours faithfully

Wow, that does look pretty good. From my quick look, here at work, it doesn't look like it's out yet. A lot of these "niche" type games are being programed by small Russian companies.

Gents,
If ya'll get the History Channel, every Tuesday morning at 0700, they have an old program from the early 90's called Civil War Journals and this past Tuesday they had the one on the CSS Virginia and USS Monitor. I got my DVR set to record it every Tuesday so I don't miss one.

Respectfully,
