If the enemy controls a designated entry hex what will happen to units scheduled to arrive - will they be deferred until it is clear or moved to another hex? or will they land on the defending unit in melee?

cheers

Hm, I'm not sure what happens if they are right on the hex.

Of course, there is the whole autorout protection, but the exact hex, I'm not sure.

In the Battleground Games, the opposing units that are located on the reinforcement hex will disappear, just like they were zapped away to a Martian ship. I don't think that points are awarded for their disappearance although I'm not positive about that point. I don't know if this logic was carried over to the HPS engine.

In HPS I think the protection range is 5 hexes. So any unit on or near (within 5 hexes) an entry hex will rout and the reinforcements will enter as per normal. I think that the 5 hex range may be increased for certain battles. I have was stung in one battle where I was doing the old sneak around on the edge of the map trick and then two of my brigades just up an routed.[:(] It was only later that I found out that I was too near an enemy entry hex

An enemy unit(s) will disappear. No points awarded

The protection default is 5 hexes, but that can be altered by the designer.

BTW, The new arrival upgrade will allow designers to design games that have new troops arriving anywhere at anytime. Neither side will know for sure. So sneaking up on entry hexes will be impossible, when that feature is used.
