I like these ideas. Would the categories mentioned be something to setup under the MDT? Any other suggestions?

<br />I'm all for Ernie's suggestion. Visiting the alternate site and seeing all those different message boards is extremely confusing. If you wanted to discuss for example 'The Battle of Chancellorsville' and wanted maximum exposure, where would you post? Army of the Potomac, Army of Shenandoah etc...

I would have thought that ANY message board (even our own in the ACWGC) should be better categorized so you can post something where like readers can compare notes. The Matrix boards and some of the History boards are set up this way. Even our own Mason Dixon Tavern is pretty 'wide open'. But what if you had categories like:

Battles and Leaders Discussion
Visting the Battlefields Discussion
HPS isses
HPS tactical hints
HPS After action reports

Anyway, just some ideas.

I do not think there has been a time of any extended problems with these boards.

Backups can be on free sites and only used if ever needed.

2 or 3 days is not an extended period. In general, these boards have been up full time.

A solution has been found, the site will remain where it is and it will be dropped to a lower priced package...this will not affect any site. This will mean we will be able to keep the site going for the future.

Hank will deal with the funding of the site so all our pledged funds should be directed to Hank.

I want to thank everyone who has offered to help in whatever way possible to find a solution.

Just got home from 12 straight days on the job....Sorry to have been out of touch so long....I was not expecting to work last weekend....Sounds like lots of progress has been made....Ya'll can email me at hanksteph at comcast.com and we'll make arrangements to get this working.....I am debating whether to post a list of who donated and how much...there are two sides I see to this....The first is to let everyone know that I will not profit (and that is the one I wish ya'll to see)....I'm sure ya'll can think of others pro and con....What do ya'll think....Regards, Hank

I'm with Bill on making the names public, those who want to contribute and can afford to don't need to have their names posted. There is no posting for those who contribute to support these forums but I'm sure there are those who do so.

Coming to this late, and no time to scan the entire thread - if there's still a need for funds, I'd be happy to contribute. Someone e-mail me the details.

Hank Smith is going to be the Treasurer for the site. Hank is very busy at the moment, but he will provide more details ASAP. Any persons interested in contibuting should contact Hank and Cc myself so I can keep the funding updated. Myself and Hank shall keep all donations private unless specifically asked not to by the donator.

The host has been downgraded to a smaller package (suitable for all our needs) at a yearly cost of $96,($8 a month).

The funding for the site will be shown in some form on a new Index page that shall be provided (to help provide better information on what sites are on the host and what services ACWGC.org provide for the club members). I will get this up as soon as I audit the host and can map all the sites on the host.

I hope that this answers most of your questions.
