These are GREAT for scenarios with lots of trails, like Vicksburg, Peninsula nd for all the game maps. The smaller trails and roads show up much better and clearer.

A must download, IMO.

Thanks Bill

I am curious as to why these would not be standard with all HPS games?

Bill, I use your graphics for all of my HPS titles and they work great. I recommend them to everyone.

Now what can be done with the rest of the HPS ACW Graphics, I mean there needs to be some variety in the farm, church and village houses! Seems like an easy fix with all of the graphics programs available? I mean has anyone seen what Volcano Man has done with the HPS Campaign Panzer units? WOWSERS!

Gents, I am looking for info on where Bill's site went, I thought someone had moved it?

Nick,

Changing the unit icons is fairly simple since the oob points to a particular picture in the file, if you modify the picture in the units.bmp you can change what shows up on the screen.

With the terrain things are a bit different. As I understand it in the 3D mode there are six different icons for most of the hex terrain features and the program randomly places one of those 6 on the screen for each hex. I'm not sure if the same thing is true for 2D features or not but I would believe so. You could vary the pictures in the features bit maps and thus change what is shown on the screen but if the above is true then the program will decide which icon is used and that will determine what you see. A warning about these files, you do have to be careful when modifying these bitmaps as they have a mask background. The principle background color is usually set to be masked or transparent so that you can see the base color which is underneath it on the screen. If you change this masked color you will not be able to see the base color underneath fields and buildings and such.

I have discovered you can vary the building icon used for the locations on the map but doing so may result in a change in the color of the text for that location. I am currently working on a website that will have a lot of this information that I have collected over the years about the various HPS game files for those who are interested. I have nearly completed work on the PDT and OOB sections and will probably release what I have finished shortly while I continue work on the rest of the site as I don't expect to complete it before the end of the year due to limits on the time I have available to work on it.

I set Bill up a portion of the ACWGC.ORG site for him to upload his site content to, as of yet he has not uploaded his site.

Bill if you are experiencing problems please contact me. [:)]

Do you want me to contact you with the FTP details again?

acwgc.org is not strictly an acw only resource, it is there for use by members of the acwgc and as such it would be a pleasure to host the Napoleonic stuff also. [:)]

This is why we want to keep the site going so much it provides a resource for members of this club to host blogs, personal sites and whatever they want....within common decency boundries of course. That means no naked Gen. Moose pictures etc... [:0][V][:p][:p][:D]

I am sending the details as soon as I finish this reply. [8D]
