 Post subject: Usual Rules Settings
PostPosted: Sun Jul 27, 2008 1:38 pm
One quick question for a returning officer: What rules settings do you usually use in club games? Nothing fancy, just the basic settings that most soldiers agree on. Thank you for your assistance, gentlemen.

Don't know if "most" agree upon it, but here's the set I prefer:

Rich,

When did Artillery Ammo by Cannon get added? Are patches coming out?

I usually go for all optional rules on, phased play. I usually find that you need to turn them on in groups so they balance out and don't favor one side over the other. I am not going in to detail why I like certain ones unless you want to hear my reasoning but I do choose Phased Play over Turn (single phase) because there are so many problems created by Turn. The Turn system is more appropriate to modern wars with true blitzkrieg tactics not the Civil War. That said Turn based is the only way to play multiplayer games and hope to finish them.

One qualify on this, Artillery Capture causes some serious problems with some scenarios regarding balance because you don't get VP unless you hold the field and it has a serious bug when used with campaign games (losses are not passed on, other player gets all the captured guns back on the next battle). As much as I like being able to capture and recapture guns this one shouldn't be used in serious games.

Michael, that's from Antietam and will be rolled to the rest of the series eventually, hopefully by the end of this calendar year.

There is no such thing. I suggest you propose the option combination you like.
