Post subject:  We have what we have

I am currently play Three Days of Gettysburg(3DOG) via Cyb er board.

To me it plays more like a Civil War battle than HPS or BGG. However..

It is virtually unplayable via email(it is NOT a computer game).Since it is not a computer game I am fairly certain that it has been tested out much less so play balance is somewhat unknown and tricks remain undiscovered.

HPS GB and BGG are GREAT simulations. Its just that so many people play them that tactical glitches( and I suppose play balance problems) come to the fore. In the good ole preinternet days( okay NOT quite so good) these glitches would have been more rarely found out and certainly not dispersed throughout the gaming world as they are today. Designers are truly under the gun and must have rhinocerous skin. I doubt if any of the older games could withstand scrutiny any better.

The only solution is constant redesign. I don`t think this is economically feasible so I would just hope that as Mr. Tiller etal. press forward with new games that they adapt to positive critigues.[:)][;)][:)]
