Suhs! It is my distinct pleasure to have my son Jack, serving with me - as my unofficial "Batman" - in the Army of Georgia. My trusty beloved Sergeant, "enrolled" 5 & 1/2 years ago, soon after his Papa enlisted with the AoG. Sadly, I received confirmation on the 29th Sept, that he had been stricken with one of the many "Camp Malaises" that afflict us all, during Our Grand Campaign here on Earth. In short, my Beautiful Boy has Leukemia. As a result . . . .would those that can, in the AoG, please assign me to Hospital duties. And if I could beg a boon from one 'n' all . . . . Once in a while, whichever God Y'all talk to,drop a quite supplication in his ear, for any assistance or aid, He can send my Jack's Way. Thanks Chaps . . . I'll gallop back to hereabouts, whenever I can and will get back to fightin' with Y'all as soon as things stabilise on the Home Front. God Bless Y'all. [;)] Pat. Patrick G.M.Carroll, Lieutenant General. Kilcullen Irregulars II Corps Army of Georgia " When My Country takes it's rightful place, amongst the Nations of the World, then and only then, let My Epitaph be written. " |

Pat, I am sadden with the news that you advised us. I will put Jack and the rest of your family on my prayer list. If there is anything that we can do to help you and your family please let us know. We all are brothers .... Take the time that you need to be with your love ones..You will be greatly missed. Long Live the South... Willie Tisdale "The Gray Fox" General Chief of Armies - CSA ACWGC Cabinet Member "Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can may revolutionize and make their own of so many of the territory as they inhabit." Abraham Lincoln January 12, 1848. |

Pat, We have never met but I feel I must respond to the news you shared with us. I have battled three different cancers in the last 28 years. Very trying times are just ahead. Get to know your enemy, find out all you can about it. Take a notebook every time you visit with the doctors and take notes. You won’t remember what they tell you. Get the exact name, type and stage of the Leukemia so you can research treatments. The more you understand the easier it is to make decisions. Keep a journal especially after treatments start. My treatment was a combination of drugs. Each chemo treatment would be a different drug After I would have a treatment the doctors would ask how it affected me. I got to the point I could tell them how many hours I slept, how long it took to have upset stomach, aches and pains etc. It took me several treatments to figure out the fourth day after treatment was my worse. Let your friends and your church help support you. Something this heavy needs lots of shoulders to share the load. A lot of folks in Oklahoma will be praying for your family and young Jack. Col. Al Baker 1st Bde, 4th(Cav)Div III Corps Army of Georgia |

Gentlemen: I just spoke to Pat by phone. He told me that Jack was doing well and that their doctor told them the recovery from the type of Leukemia Jack has is extremely good. This news has given Siobhan and Pat great cause for hope. Pat assured me that he will return to action when he can and that he thanked all for their thoughts and prayers.
