American Civil War Game Club (ACWGC)

I am coming forward to ask for acouple of volunteers, preferably one Yank and one Southern Gentleman. What I need is someone willing to do some gruntwork type research. I have a MASSIVE leader list for FTW which I am thinking of making yet more detailed....I would like someone to do the research to find the homestate of each of the leaders...New as yet unincluded leaders would also be welcome to be added....I would like to have every single General who fought in the war included. No need to rate them...the engine will take care of that....The position is totally volunteer, but if the game ever gets published, you will get acknowledged inthe credits. I am getting very close on the OOB generator whick is a key element....I just think it would be nice if it placed the officers in their correct states....YetI simply do not have time to do everything I want by myself. I am trying to figure out the distinction between a "Yank" and a "Southern Gentleman". I think you are suggesting that rather than any southerner, you want one who is a gentleman. Clearly, all Yanks are, by definition, gentlemen. Good luck in your search.

On a serious note, how many generals are you talking about. It will help determine the time yo be committed.

You could probably find the state of birth in Generals in Blue and Generals in Gray, both by Ezra Warner. Of course, there were a handful of generals on each side who came from the opposite sides'
states, such as Pemberton and Thomas. The bigger problem might be that many Union brigades and a few Confederate ones were led by colonels. In that case you could infer the state from the regiment they led just prior to brigade command. Good luck.

Another way to get the general/state that you want maybe to go to the Matrix Games Forge of Freedom forum and look under the Generals biographies section. they should just about have most of the generals listed with their biographies. this would indeed have their stateor states as the case may be.

Jim I think we have a rather basic disagreement with regards to the Gentleman thing....lol....I usually say things like "Hello gentleman, oh yes, and you damn Yankees also"....However, I was being restrained.....lol.....The reason I wanted one from each side is because I wanted you to have some vested interest in seeing the chore done right....When I mentioned having all Generals, I was specifically talking about Generals only, but not in anyway ecluding Col's. The List presently has over 500 Union Col's alone presently.....Ans so far the list is in excess of 1400 leaders.....Thanks to you all for any help
