On the Chancellorsville disk, a new optional rule states that when enemy units come within 5 hexes of "fixed" units, those fixed units are automatically "un-fixed."

Who would I send a file to showing an instance where that didn't work in a scenario I'm playing from the Chancellorsville disk?

Of course, there would have to be a LOS between the units. And it happens only on the next turn (or phase), not instantly, I think.

That is not correct. The new rule eliminates the need for LOS. But the player with the fixed units would still need to wait until his turn to move.

An exchange of several emails with Rich has shed light on this subject.

What had happened in my game was a cavalry unit traveling down a road came within two hexes of one of my fixed regiments. With the Cav Skirmish Optional Rule on, the mounted troop "sensed" my boys and immediately turned off in a different direction, ending the move more than five hexes away. Even though within the turn the unit was within five hexes, since it didn't end the turn within five, it didn't count re the new rule.

This for everyone's information.

Sincerely,
