Don It would be great if the DoR could send out auto notifications of promotions.
General John Corbin Commander in Chief Army of The Shenandoah USA
|

Don and Ernie....INCREDIBLE...JUST PLAIN INCREDIBLE!!!!!! It virtually flies now. I have never ever seen the DoR open so quickly and it doesn't matter how large the record is. This must have been an amazing amount of work and time. There ought to be some kind of medal for you guys. Could an option on the ar,y ga,es report be set so that I can chooose a report for only active officers? In other words ignore officers who are retired, in hospital or discharged.
General John Corbin Commander in Chief Army of The Shenandoah USA
|

Don, I have crafted CF code to produce an automated Officer Battle Dossier.. I think that it could be worked into the DoR as a new style of report...let me know if you would be interested in seeing the CF code as well as the access database that the CF page uses to transform it into a web page. I know it would need a re-work to incorporate it into the SQL database the DoR is now using.
Gen. Gentlmen, School started and I got real busy again. Hopefully things will slow up after this week and I can get back to updating the site. John, I should be able to include the option you are asking for in the army games report with no problem. Also, as to auto notification, there is an auto promotion page where promotions can be done automatically by the qualifying officers up through the rank of Col. That page mails out notifications to the officer's chain of command as well as to the officer being promoted. General staff promotions of course are handled by the promotion boards of each side so they handle the notifications. Is this what you were referring to or did I misunderstand you? Ed, Sure, send me the CF code. I am always open to anything that will make the site better. Changing the Cold Fusion code over to handle MYSQL is really not that difficult so no problem there. Anyone else with any suggestions or wishes please send them to me or post them here. I will be turning the site back over to Ernie completely in the not to distant future. My best regards to all. I will look into that John and see why it is not sending out the emails. Gen. Gentlemen <salute> I can't recall if I've mentioned or not, however the work done previously on the DoR is fantastic! I have not encountered a single "time out" type issue since the fix, and the gentlemen involved are owed the thanks of everyone in the ACWGC! Great job!
quote:
Originally posted by dradams2 For instance, there is one report I would really like to do and that is Top Gun reports WITHOUT any admin points being figured in. [:0] This report would reflect true "Top Guns" as all of the points used to determine them would come strictly from the battlefield. It would be interesting to see how that would impact the current list and make for much discussion in the local drinking establishments for sure.

Can't say I'd find that very useful or informative. Administrative duties take time away from gaming. Hence they are rewarded with points, just the same as gaming. I don't quite see why points for games should be in any way more real or worthwhile than admin points. Such a list would simply elevate those who only play over those who invest some of their gaming time to make the club a better place for the others. Besides, even with only gaming points figured in, "top guns" would still just be the guys who've been around the longest. Gen.
