I know there are quite a few of you out there who are up on the civil war so can anyone give me a discription of the uniform worn by the 10th New Hampshire Zouaves. Or better still a colour picture or black and white. Cheer's General Frank (Old Banshee) Mullins, XVI Corps, Army of the Tennessee. Commanding. |

Hi, General, Found this in an online catalog. Claims to be of an officer of the 10th NH, but looks like sergeant wering a standard Yank uniform. http://civilwarconnection.tripod.com/PrescottCDV.jpg MG Mike Mihalik 1/III/AoMiss/CSA |

Not uniforms, but... http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nh/topic/ci ... 0threg.htm http://www.civilwar-photos.com/unitsd.html and this source has no NH Zouaves listed. And this one is NOT NH, but you can buy this uniform CHEAP. http://historical.ha.com/common/view_it ... &type=&ic= <b><font color="gold">Ernie Sands General, Commanding, Army of Ohio ACWGC Cabinet Member ACWGC Records Site Administrator </b></font id="gold"> |

They were tasteless and ugly.....Blue as I recall.....They should have been yellow.....Truly hideous uniforms, unlike the more tasteful Gray ones and Butternut ones worn by the gallant men of the South..... BG Hank Smith Army of Georgia Smith's Corp Commanding |

While it is easy to confuse that yellow stripe that runs down the back of most yankees with the colors of their uniforms, Osprey's Men at Arms says that the 10th New Hampshire wore regulation uniforms. Check it out for yourself: http://books.google.com.sg/books?id=-I4 ... q=&f=false Hope that helps you out. <b> Lt Col Mark Truitt </b> Bushwhacker Brigade Stone Mountain Division III Corps / AoG (CSA) <i> "We'll fight them, sir, 'til hell freezes over, and then, sir, we will fight them on the ice." - A Confederate soldier at Gettysburg, in The Civil War by Shelby Foote </i> |
