One little problem though. I downloaded the units file for Chancellorsville and opened the May 3pm scenario. The unit graphics are very nice, but don't match up to the proper type units, i.e., Confederate infantry units represented by Union artillery icons in some cases. What have I done wrong?

Did you download the oob files?
You will need to download both the units file and the oobs file.

The How To page on the site has been updated to clarify the fact that you need both the oob's and the units.bmp for the new units.bmp to work properly.

Thanks, that did the trick!

I don't know why HPS ever got away from colored icons. I know it doesn't affect game play, but I really think it does affect game enjoyment to some degree.

Glad we sorted that out for you.
We had no idea and we were amazed at the number of different flags that units used in the Civil War. We knew that the south had many but not the north. This is just the eastern army, the western armies are still to come. Hope you enjoy the files. We have spent a long time reserching the units, the uniforms they wore and the flags they fought under and sacraficed their lives with such pride. The Civil War was in colour in 1861, only the technology for producing colour photographs was not. This offers you the chance to relive the battles in the splendor that was The American Civil War.

I am just bumping this thread back up to see if there has been any new updates to go along with these wonderfully researched unit icons. They certainly make the game more enjoyable.

I did the downloads for chancellorsville and the units come out great! But there was no leader.bmp to download so my leader icons don't show up on the map since I remaned the original leaders file. Did you mean to include a new leaders file?

We are in the process of doing the leader bitmap at the moment. The work is taking a little bit of time as some of the old photos are of a poor quality. Another thing that is taking our time is that HPS have used incorrect photos of leaders or the same photo being used two or three times, we are correcting that by serching out the correct leaders for each photo. It has become kind of a tribute to these lesser known leaders. We will have the leader bitmap up in the future so watch this space, and thanks for the help with the leaders I asked for. If there are any of you out there that have time or artistic skills and would be willing to help with this project please let me know. We are using a great FREE and I mean totally Free ART Program called Paint.Net
http://www.getpaint.net/download.html#download
This is one of the best if not the best art programs out there.
So keep watching you will not be dissapointed.
Where we are:
I would say we are about half way through the leader bitmap.
As we have gone on we have become better and some of the early work has been redone. We have the Anon leader Bitmap ready thanks to Jim (Digglyda).
Ed Bonemash) has been helping out with the Web page and the reb leaders but I have not heard from him in a couple of weeks so I am a little concerned for him.
Will keep you updated.

Gen Mullins,

I have available an officers.bmp file I put together for Hank Smith's Fight the War project for use with Corinth 1.01 that has over 1200 pictures of civil war officers in it. There is also an excel file showing the officers name, his leadership and command ratings, the number that points to his location in the file and whether or not I verified the image. This was done either on the web or through books I had access to and those pictures I could not verify list which HPS game engine they were taken from or in some cases if they were from the Battleground games. The pictures are full frame, without the border used in the HPS games making them a little larger, they are black and white, 95 dpi resolution, saved using 8 bit depth to cut down on the file size. If you would care for a copy drop me a line.

Hello:

Only I have looked brief at Chickamuga's units and I think that 10th NH are not troops with zouave uniform. I do not remember very well the regiment, but this uniform is of NY zouaves. I have not looked much any more.

Hello, you are correct the 10th New Hampshire as far as I researched did not wear a Zouave uniform, however (see below) the unit is listed as a Zouave unit in the OOB for Fredricksburg II. That is why I used the icon. Also it is in the Chancellorsville title.
