After getting my clock cleaned by Klaus (Lt. Col. Klaus Kuhlmann) in the 2 day scenario, and Todd (Capt. Todd Pollard) seems to be gaining the upperhand in the one day scenario, I have begun to research the battle in greater detail.

Wikipedia has a decent article

CONCERNING THE Battle of Stone River by BY MILO S. HASCALL,OF GOSHEN, INDIANA 1889

Different looks at the KY-TN battles.

Overall, it appears that the Union was lucky that they didn't suffer more causalities. I was surprised to learn that "Of the major battles of the Civil War, Stones River had the highest percentage of casualties on both sides."

Although the battle itself was inconclusive, the Union Army's repulse of two Confederate attacks and the subsequent Confederate withdrawal were a much-needed boost to Union morale after the defeat at the Battle of Fredericksburg, and it dashed Confederate aspirations for control of Middle Tennessee.

Alas, I might lose Middle Tennessee a second time! It is a much tougher battle than it first appears
