Post subject:  20,000 Gettysburg Scenarios

It is sort of early days at Scenario Design Center -while Rich (Hamilton) had it posted on his own personal host- he added it to the SDC site this past week. I don't exactly have a page set up for it yet - but in case anyone is looking for it- it can be downloaded from http://hist-sdc.com/downloads/gettyscn.zip

Just letting everyone know.

When I tried it link was bad.

Also, has anyone checked to see if they work okay under the new version, 1.04?

Scenarios should usually not be affected by version changes. Since patches as a rule don't disable earlier features, I wouldn't know how or why.

Having worked on a couple playtests I can tell you new optional rules and engine changes are normally checked out during playtesting of the new release that introduces them.

The only affect upgrades should have on scenarios in older games would be in regards to playbalance. Sometimes a new optional rule will unbalance a scenario. One that I've found that definitely will do this is the Optional Release Rule. If a scenario has fixed units and this option is chosen it may very well unbalance a scenario since units previously weren't released until they sighted an enemy unit within 5 hexes while now they are released anytime an enemy unit comes within 5 hexes. In western theater titles with it's heavily wooded maps this can definitely unbalance a scenario.

I have the zip file downloaded, can I just extract the scenarios into the Gettysburg folder without messing up the ones already there?

Maj Trauth;

Thanks very much for calling our attention to the download site. And also thanks to Rich Hamilton for correcting the link. Longest unzip I ever saw!

You'll want to extract those scenarios to the campaign folder.

Yep, as Ken said - to the campaign folder - the campaign is setup to randomly pull from them at each branch (not all, but those with the appropriate file name) so you should have virtually unlimited replay options in the campaign.
