I couldn't possibly attend. I'm moving back to the States in April, and don't start a new appointment until late June, so I'll be far too busy twiddling my thumbs. [8D]

Then again, I'm already an expert thumb-twiddler. Maybe I should do something different, like drive down I-40 to Nashville and play games for a whole weekend? I mean, I could use my thumbs on the keyboard - that would count as thumb-twiddling, right?? [:I]

Will need to confirm, but will probably be there! I'll be easy to identify - after over 13 years in the UK, I'll be the one driving west down the left side of I-40... [:D]

Rich,

Are there any ideas for non-combatant spouses? (Something to keep them real busy, so they don't interrupt our gaming! [:D] )

This will be my wife's 3rd TILLERCON and at a couple of them, some of the wives got together for excursions.

In Kansas City, a group went on a tour of tourist type spots, like museums and shopping areas.

In the Nashville area, I am sure there are plenty of sightseeing places for them to get around to.

I think it is hard enough for the planners to get the actual conference going to expect them to add another layer, but if there are any local members attending, with their wives, then that would be a great source of ideas. Or just some ideas from anyone local would be helpful.

My wife says that a couple of good books helps to while away the time. She does use the time to just relax.

My wife is a quilter, has already found two quilt shops in Franklin plus two plantation houses to tour. http://www.carnton.org/ Historic Carnton Plantation and http://www.carter-house.org/ Carter House. She is ready to go. Any other spouses into quilting?

This is a most valuable and most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can may revolutionize and make their own of so many of the territory as they inhabit."

Following are links to websites for points of interest in Nashville and the surrounding area.

Thanks to Ned Simms for providing these links.

Notes concerning some non conference things to do (not in any order):

1 - http://www.opry.com/plan/Attractions_Ac ... tions.html pretty much sums up 20th Century Nashville along with a Friday night Opry performance. It's way too far out to know who the performers would be for that night. Of note are the General Jackson riverboat tour/dinner, the Grand Ole Opry, the Opryland Hotel, the Ryman Auditorium, the Museum, and backstage tours.

At Cool Springs is one of the best malls in the state. Not to far from that is the Opryland Mall (Bass Pro shops). Wives, Kids, and Dads can find stuff at all malls. At cool springs, I believe there is a jacket outlet, rainforest cafe, can't remember what else. It is big. A few minute back to the hotel, and some rest, and on to Opryland.

Franklin is a quaint town and known for antique shopping.

Downtown Nashville has a Gibson Guitar factory, you can tour, watch them made, and then plsy, and buy them. There was a planet hollywood, etc. You can walk from bar to bar and be surprised by what memeber of the Nashville Mafia plays that night. Hockey arena is nice, but games cost a bit. Downtown area is nice and clean. Good place to go for a vacation.

Just go this:

"in case you're wondering about our hotel for Tillercon after the flooding around Nashville, I talked to them this morning, and they are fine. No flooding at their location. If anyone is concerned, let them know this is nowhere near the flooded Opryland or Opry Mills shopping center, nor is it close to the other hard-hit areas that are on the news, like Bellevue, Pennington's Bend, etc."
