Post subject:  2 articles and a question about Franklin
If you own Campaign Ozark, you can fight this one:

My questions is about Campaign Franklin. I would think based upon historical results, it would be heavily weighted in favor of the North. I have seen little commment on the game itself, and don't seem to find a lot of people wanting to play it in Opponents wanted.

I am considering making this my next purchase, so feedback on the game is desired.

I have had the Franklin disk for about three years and I have never played a battle from it, so if you do get the disk send me a dispatch and we can give it a try[:D]

I shall certainly do so sir! After reading the article, it may be Hood had a chance to win the battle. A website dedicated to General Hood vehemntly denies that he was "poor general" and attacks Wiley Sword's books that deal with the general. A different view can be found here:

I have a soft spot for JB, personally a very brave man, but when it came to tactics he appeared to a be a bit of a one trick pony - CHARGE!!! and CHARGE. A lot of southern men died pointlessly.[:(]

I have played Campaign Franklin several times and found it lacking. Your assumption about balance is not misplaced. There is not much length or variety in the scenarios list.

Also... whoever designed the Franklin map didn't know what they were doing. It doesn't follow any of the rules for topography.

You cannot tell by looking at the map whether you are going up a hill or down one. It's very deceptive due to the poorly assigned colors for elevation.

The colors aren't hard to fix. You can substitute one of the 2DGroundxx.bmp and 3DGroundxx.bmp from one of the newer games you like for the Franklin files. I don't have the game so I can't be sure which game's files would work better.

Balance is more difficult. Hood took on an impossible task. To few against to many and he had the burden of attack.

I designed Franklin.

If you download the latest patch, it will alow you to play the game with both graphic options. No need to sub graphics. If you feel the historical games is too difficult, try the "What if" scenarios.

BTW, to avoid duplicate scenarios, read the "Changes file" first and follow the instructions.
