Officers of the Union Army and the ACWGC (yes, that includes you Rebs.)!

Today is my last day as Union Chief of the Army. I leave you in the very capable hands of General DS Walter, who has already been hard at work these past 2 months in preparing to lead us forward. My profoundest thanks to General Walter for his willingness to once again serve our fine Army and Club – we couldn’t ask for a better person to lead the Union Army.

I wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to serve you all – it has been my humble pleasure these past 4 years. We are stronger and more capable, yet still have many things to be done. I could not have done it without the help of many fine commanders within the Union Armies and Military Academy, as well as some key counterparts on the CSA side of the Club – too many names to mention. We have a great group of men serving our Club on both sides, from the President and Cabinet on down the line.

I’m not going far, as I will be working for General Walter as the Eastern Theater Commander. I’m looking forward to the opportunities I get to tackle there – it’s almost like going home, back to the AoP!

My best wishes for everyone in the coming year!

Warmest Regards,

Jeff

General Laub,

I must tell you, Sir, in front of all these officers, that I have both thoroughly enjoyed your company and learned much from you in this past year. And I expect that will continue. You might be stepping away as Union Chief of the Army, but the Union Army can never step away from the contributions you have made to it!

Russ, great to see you around!

You all have Russ to blame for me even being here - he and I used to play something General Abner Doubleday calls "baseball" (we play the APBA version these days!). A great game, and he mentioned "another PBEM" group he was affiliated with, and my curiosity led me to ask what he was referring to. Lo and behold, it was the American Civil War Gaming Club! Incidentally, I owned Talonsoft's Gettysburg, and was a history and gaming nut who had never realized the communities that were out there!

And that's the rest of the story, Good Day![:D]
