Happy New Year to you all. A huge electrical storm passed over just after dark, with the lightning lighting up behind the mountain and then half the sky as the storm passed through over the city. (Mount Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania) It took about 20 minutes from the first flashes until the rumble of thunder was close enough to be heard and it was complete half an hour after the first flashes that the rain hit. It took a further hour for the storm to fully pass over. Hours later as the midnight fireworks began, they competed with the lighting waaaaay off, on the distant, Eastern horizon.
