I'm thinking of buying one of the newer HPS titles (HPS Vicksburg, Atlanta, Chickamauga, Antietam or Chancellorsville ) and I was hoping to get clubwide opinions on which is the most balanced, (fun?) of these titles. Granted there are literally hundreds of scenarios in each of these games, but I usually gravitate towards the more historical scenarios. Besides, we all know this post will eventually turn into a "Us Southerners are more handsome than you Yankess, vs us Yankess know how to get things done while you Southerners are all about the party" thread. But I digress. Opinions wanted, and thanks.[;)]

Antietam has some good battles ( and large ones). I rank it next to Gettysburg.Seems fairly balanced also. next would be Chickamaugua.

I am still learning Chancellorsville, but causalities seem high. I like Chickamaugua better.

On the good looks thing, there are times the Southern gents aren't quite refined enough

So far 2 antietam and 2 Chickamauga.
(I was secretly hoping for more Chancelorsville votes)

Chancellorsville is ok, but the historical campaign sucks, too many frozen units... But, I really like the meeting engagement campaign, where they enter randomly with mostly even forces. LOTS of fun to play... but, not historical.

Antietam is good, but haven't played enough. Chick doesn't have enough campaign battles for me. I like Atlanta too. Peninsula is good... but... just but... lol

So, no real vote I guess...LOL

Hi, Homer,

It is true that a Southerner is more handsome than a Yankess; but the Yankesses tend to be purtier.[:)]

The five you listed all have their attraction, and all have a lot of historical battles. Chickamauga includes four major historical battles; Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga and Chattanooga. Antietam has three; 1st and 2nd Manassas and Antietam, as well as Cedar Mountain and South Mountain. Vicksburg and Atlanta cover all the battles in their respective campaigns, so they are true campaign games. Chancellorsville also includes Fredricksburg. I would recommend Chickamauga, but you can find even scenarios in all the games.
