Am I correct in thinking the historical 1st Division, I Corps, AoP fought in only three HPS titles: Gettysburg, Antietam, and Chancellorsville?

Are the last two titles patched up to where they no longer require a CD in the machine to play?

I'm wanting to be able to play all the scenarios with 1st Division, I Corps, AoP only involved, or played a major role. HPS Gettysburg has a short one with the division by itself, and the first day scenario it played an important factor, and of course the 3-day affair, too.

Thanks for any info.

Hi, Al,

There is a variation in Peninsula where you have a 1st Division, I Corps, AoP, but it isn't historical, nor is it composed of the same units. King's Division, which is what the Iron Brigade was in when they received their baptism of fire at Groveton, was the 3rd Division in the Peninsula variation.

And to make it more confusing you'll find King's division at Groveton and 2nd Bull Run with Gibbon's brigade and many of the regiments that would form the 1st Division / I Corps at Gettysburg in the 1st Division, 3rd Corps, Pope's AoV.

As for the no-cd patch -only games patched beginning July 2009 (in the CWB) got it removed, so there are still a couple of titles that are in line to get it removed when the next round of patches come out.

When the Union established the Corps system, the I Corps, AOP was commanded by Irwin McDowell and provided the link between the Valley and Washington and was stationed east of the Shenandoah Valley. It remained there when the rest of the AOP moved south by boat for the Peninsula campaign. When Pope's AOV was formed the AOP's I Corps was attached to the AOV and had it's designation changed to III Corps, AOV. After 2nd Bull Run, when the AOV was dissolved, the III Corps, AOV reverted back to designation of I Corps AOP. I and II Corps' AOV, became XI and XII Corps AOP, respectively. Therefore, you would not be making a mistake playing Peninsula Campaign, any scenario that contained King's Division of III Corps, AOV.
