Gentlemen,

Last year I had talked about running a Big XII Tournament based upon the NCAA College Football Schedule. But I never quite got around to it... [:(]

Anyway, I've decided to do it this year and I've started putting together some of the details today. This Tournament is open to Reb and Yank alike and offers some rather interesting features... one of which is... that there must be at least one Yank and one Reb on each team. When has that ever happened in the history of the Club? Also I've worked it out where all the games played will be battles and the Yank will always play the boys in blue and the Rebs will always play the boys in gray!

Also... I know not all of you are Big XII fans... and I'm very sorry for you... but we ALL can't be winners! [;)] But this tournament allows for other fanatical college supporters to form their own teams and participate also. So it should be very interesting...

Here are the beginnings of the Tournament Web Pages. They are far from complete but it will give you some idea as to what I'm proposing.

http://www.rogerhulinsky.com/Big12/Big12Tourney.html

What I am really looking for now is those diehard Big XII fans to come forward and volunteer to assume the role as coaches of one of the Big XII teams. Or if you don't want to be a coach for the team but want to be on a particular team... let me know. Just drop me an email at: Big XII Tournament

Also if you have some good comments or suggestions for the Tournament... feel free to send them my way. I know I've got alot of details missing yet but the wife is coming home soon so I'm rushing to get this posted. So won't like it I sat around and put together web pages all the day long! I was supposed to be doing chores! [}:)]

I look forward to hearing from you!

Warmest Regards,

General Roger Hulinsky

Good thing DUKE isn't in it or they'd take it ALL. [:D][:D][:p]

Gen Hulinsky,

You started a discussion about this type of tournament last year maybe? What ever happened to that post? I wanted to look at some of the names who expressed interest back then. Can you help out?

Gery,

I just posted some miscellaneous team names in the nonconference opponent list... they are just examples at this point. So if you wanted to put together a Duke team... you are free to do so!

Just put together a team and let me know who the coach is and who your players are and I'll see if I can wiggle you in. [;)] Otherwise... I'm very sure someone will be knocking on your door asking if you'd like to play for their team. [:D]

Brig. General Shaw,
Doug,

I actually tried to go back and find the old topic myself but I was unable to get to anything older than a year old.

So... I guess I don't know how to do that... but perhaps someone else might!

Brig. General Shaw,
Doug,

I was able to search for that old topic in the Archives and I actually found it. The topic was locked and I couldn't unlock it but I found the following Officer's expressed some interest in the tournament with the associated teams.

I will list them below for your reference...

Mark Truitt... Missouri... BOOO!
Jim Gleason... Nebraska... YEAH!!!
Jerry Butley... Colorado... WHAT???
Tom Moore... Colorado... PHEWWWW!!
Waylon Hughes... Texas... WON BY ONE STINKING POINT!!!
Mark Nelms... Illinois... or maybe even Texas Tech
Alvin Baker... Oklahoma State... ORANGE???
Doug Shaw... Missouri... OH NO!!!
J. Ellis... Texas or was it Tennessee... REGARDLESS VERY CONFUSED!
David Groce... Florida State

That's the list. Pretty much everyone had nothing but positive things to say about the Cornhuskers... which is pretty much as I expected! [:D]

Gents,

David Mallory has expressed interest in being on the Missouri team.
Ken Miller (CSA) has expressed interest in Notre Dame.
The Hovey's (North & South) may put together a Wisconsin team.
Pat Thompson may consider coaching UCLA.
Rusty Hodgkiss may consider coaching Ohio State.
John Fogarty is going to be a Union player for the Boomer Sooners.
David Ray expressed interest in playing for the Sooners also.
Alvin Baker will probably be coaching Oklahoma State.

Here's my thoughts on filling the teams.

1) I'll try to find individuals who are interested in coaching Big XII or nonconference teams who are diehard fans as they will be HIGHLY MOTIVATED. [;)]

2) Then we'll see if they can find can put together a team consisting of at least one Yank and one Reb.

3) Once the diehards are in place as coaches and players... then I will try to fill the Big XII teams that still are in need of coaches. Those coaches will attempt to fill their teams with CS & US Officer's in the Club. (Strangely, some folks don't give a hoot about college football but will still participate because they are interested in participating in the Tournament.)

4) Then once we've established the Big XII & Nonconference teams that are participating we can work out any scheduling details due to the teams available.

So right now... any diehard fan interested in coaching a team should contact me and see if they can assemble a team of at least one Reb & one Yank.
