Post subject: Return for an auld Irish Rebel?

A doubled-over, dust-caked, shell of what used to be a Man, staggers from his skeletal Hoss and half-falls through the bat-wings of the Old Mason Dixon Tavern . . .

Through sun-creased, sand-blown slits, that once contained sharpshooter's eyes and a merry glint, he surveys the scene before him.

So many faces are missing, and yet here and there, in a corner or at the far end of the Bar . . . a face that spark's a faded memory . . and raises a thin smile to his parched lips . . . .

Yet no-one seems to recognise Him . . . . Or do They?

So . . . . drawing a long, slow breath into his battered chest, he aims a good 'un at the Spitoon and hollers out - voice cracking with Emotion and Pride . . . .

" Well? Which in Hayull of all you Sons of Sodbustin' Ne'er do wells is gonna buy the Kilcullen Irregular a decent belt o' Whuskey? "

After a Short stunned pause, he continues . . .

"If Ah ain't wetting Mah tonsils in seconds flat Boys . . . I'll be on Mah Hoss quicker 'n Spit and off to jine the Union . . . . "

The Bar-Keep reached below the Bar . . . .

But . . . . . was it for a Bottle? Or . . . . . for his Shotgun???

Would someone be so kind as to direct Me to the site address where I can download patches for original Talonsoft Battleground disks, so they will play on Windows Vista. My Thanks Sirs!

Wearily, The auld Rebel turned to the Man addressing Him.

The voice seemed familiar, the youthful face a shade greyer, battle-scarred and care-worn from the years spent warring instead of laughing.

"Baker! You Pup! I remember You as a Captain. With all those Tin-horn Medals and Brass Stars on yer Collar . . . . you better pour Me a large Whuskey and pour it fast! If'n they've gone 'n' made you a Gawd-durned Gen'ril in this rag-tag Army of Ours . . . I h'ain't come back a moment too soon!!!" [:D]

The Whuskey was gone in a flash . . . .

"Pour me 'nother Son . . . 'n' don' be givven Me anymore shocks . . I h'ain't come heah for a heart attack! It does a body good to see Yuh Al!

Draw up a stool Boy! And fill me in with whut's been happenin' heah since I had to go back to Mah Estates . . . . How goes the War agin Those People?"

Good to see ya back Pat - but sorry your original Talonsoft BG games cannot be patched up to play on Vista or Win 7. If you want to keep playing them you will have to get them from Matrix - All the games now come as one in one download - about $48 down here in OZ. However you can still PBEM between Matrix and the old Talonsoft version[:)]
