And I was just thinking of moving there. I'll stick to earthquakes.

Everywhere has their own form of natural disaster. I guess you just get used to them. I grew up dodging tornados also.

Gents,
I was just getting to returning files when the 5th time the sirens sounded, decided to take shelter. Just moved from Norman, where I think it hit, and storms, tornados from Healdton, Lone Grove,Ardmore, Wilson, etc. all moved to Durant where I live, Calera and Bennington,
and now comes the 2nd wave. With the thunder bursts and power outtages time to unplug the computer and live to fight another day.
Lived thru this many times but will never again ignore the sirens.

Prayers out for all those who suffered losses Monday.

David, I live south of you in Grayson County. Sherman had a large wall cloud pass just north of it Monday night. The spotter saw significant lowering, but nothing touched down. We have more coming tonight through the weekend. Yea us.

Jon,
Sherman/Denison is just down the road, my dad lives in Gainesville and a brother in Madill in this vicinity.
A transplanted Sooner, no Hookem Horns (bio)?
Six months ago I moved from Norman, pretty sure the Loves truck stop that was obliterated was just south of me.
A few close calls just N and S of Durant, Calera etc but mostly lucky here, not like tornado alley, Mustang, S OKCity, Moore, I have lived in all 3 and this time of year can be a little scary.
Four more days of rain ahead, if you hear sirens, don't be like me and wait until the 5th time, get to shelter immediately, I will next time, nature will not be ignored, a little scary and I've been on 4 deployments.

Ray,

Yep, nature is scary. Severe weather has always held a special attraction for me though. In my college years I was a storm spotter. When I got married spotting came to a rather quick halt, but I still have a strong interest in it.

Moore has to be the tornado epicenter for Oklahoma. Well, Moore and perhaps Lone Grove. Been watching the stuff training from the south all day. So far my part of Grayson County is dry.

I was born in Norman to OU parents, so my hatred for UT is seething and undying. I actually kind of enjoy it. [}:)]

Speaking of Calera, have you eaten at Chuck's? I heard it was alright. We're going to be in Durant for Southeastern's graduation Saturday and may give Chuck's a chance.

By the way, thank you for your service.

26 tornados in Oklahoma since my last post, by my count. Yesterday three tornados touched down around Tulsa, one with two miles where I live. A church member lost thier home. [:(] This last group hit around 5:00 am, hit and were gone before the sirens could be sounded. No fatalities from these, although the ones that hit Monday did take two lives. [:(]

Another week of rain and heavy storms forcasted.

Yippieee!

Al,

That is horrible news. The next week or so looks rather bumpy.
