Some very good points - I also have a group of fine Yankee Officers that I play games with...sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. But the point is you need to only go to the DOR and copy and paste an Yank or Rebel email address - send them an email asking if they would be willing to take you on. You will be surprise with the response.

Go for it!!!!

"Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can may revolutionize and make their own of so many of the territory as they inhabit."

Agreed - the direct approach via e-mail works extremely well. Opponents are easily found this way.
Good points made there Bill.

I haven't used the opponent finder for years, I'm sorry to say! I have a great group of folks I've played regularly here for the past 7+ years, and use Club tourneys to meet new opponents.

I used to maintain over 10 games going at a time, now it's usually 5-8, and my turn rate isn't quite as fast as it used to be![;)]

I do answer challenges in the opponent finder, on occasion. But, the games do last for some time, so the opportunity to get another game going, after you reach your limit, is a long time between times.

I tend to continue to play the same members in game after game, but do use the opponent finder for new games against new opponents.

I have 2 MP games going and I believe the start of both was from within the opponent finder forum.

I play some folks again and again but I will post in the Opponents Finder or look there when I'm wanting to meet someone new.

Sir, this is a wonderful posting. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences with such clarity. It has given me pause to examine my own use of the Opponent's Finder and to develop a more refined use of this tool.

I have used the opponent finder several times and have always found games quickly. I have not used it recently because I have devloped a good pool of guys I like to play. I still check it periodically.

Bill makes some interesting points about the opponents finder forum. I think the main thing is to keep in consideration what he talks about with players having several games going, and if you are like me, you'll have several games going in each of the clubs you belong to, which adds up to more then it should sometimes. [B)] However, post for your game there and give it some time. If a week passes go in there and bump it up and maybe go to one of the opposite side army taverns and make a post there and see if you can generate some interest. If that doesn't work after a bit then maybe make an insulting challenge in the Mason-Dixon and I'm sure that will draw some interest, but only do this as a last recourse.
