Mr. President and other Fine Officers that is wearing the Gray

I guess I need to let you Yanks in on it as well...because when you hear who the Commander is - you all will be running scare.

It gives me great pleasure to announce to you our new Army Commander for the AoM - CSA.

After much discussion between both Theater Commanders and myself, we decided to give the Command to Col. Blake Strickler. Col. Strickler was serving as the CoS for the AoM and continue to serve as acting commander during the application process. We had another fine officer that also applied...but base on the goals of the AoM and the goals that we have within the CSA - Col. Strickler was a much better choice.

Please welcome Col Stickler as the new AoM Commander....

"Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and most sacred right - a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can may revolutionize and make their own of so many of the territory as they inhabit."

I wish to thank everyone who has been so kind to me since I joined the Club. People seem to attribute the great spirit and performance of this Army lately to my efforts. This is far from the truth. There are many great Officers in this Army and I am just fortunate to be a part of it all. This is the finest Army in the CSA in my opinion. Their record of mustering, participation, and enthusiasm is truly remarkable. While serving with this Army I have learned much about the men I am now to "command." In all interactions I have not met a single one who I have not admired in some way: Drott for his enthusiasm and humor, Whitehead for his thoughtful comments, Adams for his long-term dedication to this Club, Hooper for his guidance, Newcomb, Bastiani and Bertolino for their service to this nation... The list goes on in my head but I will stop embarrassing the guys. Let me just say I will proudly carry the banner forward as best I can for them all. And I know, if I ever need help, these men will be there for me.

Now let's get back to battling the Yankees!

Respectfully,
Col. Blake Strickler
Army of the Mississippi
Commanding Officer

I guess I should stop our battles to congratulate Blake! This fine officer should be promoted! It is unseemly to have an army commander below general rank! I know the Union Army would be glad to give him a star.
