I received a tip from a Union General and decided to investigate further leads about the goings on behind locked Yankee doors. My spies confirmed my very worst fears.

Below is the evidence we discovered. When my spy attempted to converse with the Yanks he could not speak Klingon so was turned away.

By the time your spy left, he was singing Kilingon opera - in soprano! So you're getting out your old club pictures. Nifty!

Gentlemen

My understanding was the club was based upon role play?

Surely if one side has locked ALL and the key is ALL of there taverns, you severely
limit the flow of role play?

My angle on this topic is this,

I am a newly graduated Officer of the CSA, I have posted a request for opponents in the opponent finding portion of the boards. As of now I still have had no takers. So this morning I think to myself I'll head out to the Union army Boards and post
directly onto the boards for an opponent.......alas I am unable.
Now Gentlemen for those members who have been in the club for a long time I assume you have lots of contacts and
therefore probably don't struggle to find games. But for a new member this is not the case, in my situation I figured
why not go to the source "The Union Army Boards".

Surely there are areas that could be open up for inter Army banter and challenge/opponent fighting?

 PLEASE, Lt. Keep your RAGS on your feet. I think you camped to close to the latrines, last night. Surely you do not think that all is closed to you; why you may visit here with our pickets, any time. We will gladly trade for that good Virginny t'baccy. We have some slightly rancid sowbelly, but I am sure you are used to the little bugs crawling around it. Why some of our boys fixed up some apple pan dowdy the other night and it was soooo good. Might you have some of those nice apples still around? The ones we got out of your supply wagons are all gone.

Well, anyway, I hear some officers heading our way and they don't take much of a shinin' to us jaw-jacking with y'all, so skedaddle over ta your own side of that there crick and we'll see you tomorrow, maybe down the sights of my gun, so keep your heads down.

(BANTER can be right here, no need to go anyplace else)

That's Ernie's way of politely saying, "stay away from my Union officers! They are precious little pearls and we can't have them molested." Don't worry Grant, there are still a few Yanks who visit these boards. Luckily one or two of them can read and interpret it for the other officers.

As to what lurks behind the Yankee Tavern doors? Much specualtion and investigation has found traces of Trekkies, cross-dressing, and Mickey Mouse worship. Perhaps it is best we dont get into the Yankee Taverns afterall.

<Salute> Gen Sands

You have indeed Sir shown this raw Fld Lt that there are avenues within this club open to him for banter still.
May I say Sir, that you are indeed skillful in said art of banter, this Fld Lt knows when he is out gunned shall we say
Sir. Sir well you now demonstrate that there are still avenues open to this raw Fld Lt for a Battle?

It would be an Honur Sir to meet on the field of battle with such a Senior member of this club, or if not yourself Sir
maybe you could put me in touch with one of your Junior officers.

Well Orson Welles did narrate the show in the 1930's, but the saying is attributed to a Frank Readick: "So well remembered was Readick’s characterization of The Shadow, that when Orson Welles followed him in the part CBS used a recording of Readick to open and close the show with the Shadow’s catchphrase “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!“

I am a brigade commander, like yourself. So if you want to play something, please start any game up (I have them all) any scenario and your choice of any options you want.

There are open boards at the Union Army forums, as well as at the forums of the Army of the Cumberland and of the Army of the Tennessee. Everybody is welcome there.

In addition, there are also private forums for all four Union field armies and for the Union army as such.

I honestly don't know where the notion comes from that the Union Army has recently locked "ALL" their forums. There is exactly the same number of private forums as before the move to the new location, only they're now mostly concentrated in one place. On the other hand there is a NEW forum open to everyone. So in fact we're more inviting to Rebs than before the move, not less.

I understand. But why have the Yankee taverns scattered all over? If they were on the main MDT site like the Reb ones it would probably make it easier for everyone and encourage easier and faster communication. I spend enough time chasing Yanks all over the field of battle as it is :D

As I stated earlier, the mear fact that it causes so much hand wringing on the reb side is reason enough to password all Union taverns.
