I have mentioned the possibility of a casino being built next to Gettysburg battlefield before. The deadline for objections is looming. I received the following mail from Civil War Preservation Trust today. Please participate and cast your vote if you feel strongly about this.

SAVING GETTYSBURG COULDN'T BE EASIER!
Concerned Gettysburg might get a casino? Take a stand in a minute or less and prevent these misguided investors from desecrating historic ground!

In order to defeat this proposal, Civil War Preservation Trust is urging you to take action! Visit speakforthefallen.org and submit your opposition to the casino! Showing your support will take about 30 seconds – and those 30 seconds will make a difference.

The Gaming Board is taking written submissions until October 30th, so let’s make the last few days count! We need you to speak out and tell the board: "Don't Gamble with Gettysburg's Future."

You can also help CWPT defend this national treasure by taking further action:

1. Sign the e-petition condemning the absurd idea of a Gettysburg casino by visiting CWPT's No Gettysburg Casino petition page.

2. Donate what you can to CWPT to assist in our efforts to defend this hallowed ground!

With your help we will preserve for future generations the sanctified, dignified and reverent atmosphere of Gettysburg – arguably America’s best known historic site.
