The two teams for the battle of Memphis have been chosen!

Jeff McDonald's Division of XV Corps has accepted the challenge of our vaunted III Corps.

Jeff McDonald, Jason Fitch, and Rick Trembley will square off against Hampus Drott, James Foster, Stewart Stiles, and myself.

The chosen battle is from HPS Vicksburg scenario 5a.

Updates will follow.

Let the fight begin....

Gentlemen on both sides........... good luck
I know each Army will fight honorably
but the AotM will prevail for we fight for the "Cause"

UPDATE!

Just as we predicted the AotT is having a hard time standing up to our AotM officers! We are on turn 6 now and have already captured Maj. Gen. Frank Blair and Brig. Gen. AJ Smith. They did manage to wound Brig. Gen. S.D. Lee slightly but he is expected to recover fully. Apparently watching the Yanks form a line of battle made him laugh so hard he fell from his saddle and broke a rib.

The casualties are
Yanks
479 Infantry Killed, Wounded, Missing, or Ran Away
25 Cavalry Ran Off
2 Cannon Captured

Rebs
236 Infantrymen Died Honorably on the Field of Battle
159 Cavalrymen Rode off into the Sunset

True, the Rebel forces very rudely interupted the quiet coffee that Maj. Gen. Frank Blair and Brig. Gen. AJ Smith were having on the eve of battle, ARE THERE NO CIVILIZED MANNERS IN THE SOUTH

As fortune would have it, Grant returned to the field with McPherson, but they were not needed, as the AotT forces of Jeff McDonald on the right and Rick Trembley in the Center successfully stormed Champion Hill and enveloped the beleagured AotM forces of BG Cummings, isolating a brigade of over 1000 Rebs.

One Rebel officer was heard to shout...."Yankees. Yankees to the front. Yankees to the right. Yankees moving to the left. Yankees. It was like I was at a Smurf Convention and was blocking the doorway to Smurfette's bedroom."

In the meantime, Jason Fitch replaced the lost coffee drinkers and heroically withstood the screaming banshee like rebels pouring towards our left flank.......only to realize the fight was in their rear

The Union FOrces gratiously accepted a Major Victory, along with a supply of Bourban and Cigars found in the supply wagons.

The casualties are:
Yanks
3192 Infantry Killed, Wounded, Missing, or Ran Away (to fight another day)
215 Cavalry Ran Off
5 Cannon Captured

Rebs
4,411 Infantrymen Died Honorably on the Field of Battle (never to see the light of day)
200 Cavalrymen Rode off into the Sunset (probably to Mexico)
18 Cannon Lost
6 Supply units sacked

 MEMPHIS IS IN UNION HANDS

A well-fought battle, sirs!

Memphis does stay in Union hands for the time being.

Now, my fellow Rebs, let us depart and....

What?

Nothing.

I can assure you we have nothing in our saddlebags, sir!

No, I dont smell BBQ.

Open the saddlebags?

Sure....

RIDE LIKE THE WIND BOYS! BACK TO DIXIE! :D

(I am glad you liked the smurf reference... I cracked myself up writing it)
