News from the Matrix Forums indicates that WCS's new American Civil War Game series may be released sometime later this year or early 2011. Entitled Brother Against Brother, The Sword is Drawn, this is a short description.

"Western Civilization Software is getting close to releasing the first in a series of games devoted to historical Civil War battles. The 'Brother Against Brother' series will be at the regimental level, with highly detailed maps and orders of battle. The engine itself is a greatly modified version of the 'Forge of Freedom' engine, with numerous changes."

It will be interesting to see how they implement this. Forge of Freedom was a Strategic CW game with regions but it had a tactical detail engine for resolving battles. FoF used brigade level units so they will have to increase their map size considerably and make other changes to go down to regimental level.

I'm still holding out hope for a good MOD for Napoleon or Empire Total War, as it offers (IMO) the best balance of strategic and tactical level action, plus pretty pretty graphics!

I'm going to watch for this one closely. Being the same scale as th HPS CW games it will likely provide some serious competition, especially if the graphics and AI show promise.
