I have NOT searched the forums...yet. I just want to know if anyone is playing Grisby's game. I am thinking of buying it and though I am sure that it will occupy a lifetime playing it solitaire, I would much prefer playing against a human. So if anyone out there has been or is playing it, I would love to know what you think of it and what the potential for opponents is. Thank you.

I'm playing it for the second time against a human opponent. It's a very enjoyable game that (in my opinion) is very hard to master. It requires a lot of playing against the AI before you're ready to tackle a human and the AI even on EASY will whip your butt time and time again before you start catching on. I consider the game a lot like tennis - it's got to be the most boring game ever invented until you get to where you can hit it back over the net and then it's a pretty neat game. I don't know how many people are playing it but I've looked twice for opponents and found one both times.

Extra comments: It takes a pretty good while to play the first turn (getting familiar with your forces/leaders and setting up your production) but it doesn't normally take but a few minutes to play a turn after the first one. It also usually throws me on the first turn because the file goes deeper into the folder than HPS does their files (a fact that I normally forget and thus I can't find the file). I haven't played it enough yet to say that no two games would be the same but it appears that way so far. It also appears to be easier to play the Rebs than the Union starting out. There were some pretty expert evaluations and threads on the MDT about it when the game first was released so if you can find them then it would be to your benefit.

Thank you. That is very informative and gives me a lot to think about. I just bought another WWII monster Grisby and I am thinking maybe I ought to hold off a bit if the learning curve is that great. Likely that the WWII game with have a similar interface so I will hack around with that for awhile and maybe pick up his ACW after the holidays. Thanks very much for responding.
