You cannot add a picture on your hard drive to a post, it needs to be stored somewhere on the web. If you have access to a website or an online storage site some of them allow remote loading, my Comcast ISP provides a free webpage with my access so I post my images there using the file management program for uploading files.
Once your image is available on the web you use the
[img]
tag, inside that you place the url for the image in my case

http://home.comcast.net/~army_of_the_potomac/images/colors/abblues_sm.gif

then you follow that with the ending tag
[/img]
which is how I get the flag in my signature to show.

If you have access to a club army webpage you can try storing your image there, if not you can ask the person handling your army page to upload your image and give you the url to access it and try it out.

A couple of things to consider
The img tag does not allow for sizing so you may have to modify your image with a graphics program to get it sized properly. If you don't have one you can look into free downloads such as paint.net

Some free sites do not allow remote loading in which case your image will not show.

Finally you can use the Preview button to check out your image rather than just making a bunch of posts to check it out.

Ken is right... but you could put your images on your Facebook page and then use that to place them here so they have a url.

I put a pic from my hard drive on Facebook and then used the image tags to place it on here

If you need a place to store your image, I have room on one of my websites.

Send me an email with the JPG or GIF and I can resize it, if needed. Once I have it uploaded, I will send you the URL, which you can use, using Ken's excellent explanation.

As it is a Yankee website, I can't guarantee that the image will NOT be defaced and messed with.
