Have any of you read After the War, by David Hardin (www.rowmanlittlefielf.com). It follows the lives of a number of civil war identities, Lee, Mary Chestnut etc after the war. Had a good review.

Cheers

I haven't read it but I may have to get it. It sounds very interesting. I know Wheeler ended up commanding in the Spanish American War 33 years after the Civil war and I think one general might have served the Egyptian Pasha. Lots of history here.

Hi,

For the generals, "Generals in Blue" and "Generals in Gray" tells what happened to each one who survived the war. Of course, it was just a capsule biography. Not only Wheeler, but Fitzhugh Lee served as a general in the Spanish American War, although I don't think he was involved in combat operations like Wheeler. "After the War" sounds like it might deal with fewer folks in greater detail, and not limited to generals. I will check it out at Amazon.
