So which of these is everyone's LEAST favorite? I'm thinking Income Tax will win hands down!

Sir,

An intersting list , and food for thought. However, I beleive that HMS Warrior (launched 1860) came into service before the US and CSA ironclads. As a Brit, I couldn't let that one go! Perhaps the list was referring to the first [i]combat[i] between ironclads. I also hear that some other people across the English Channel may have got in there first and managed to launch one before all of us... but let's not go there.

Sorry James, but France launched "La Gloire" in 1859 but Britain had decided to go all armour by 1861.
