For those HPS games that still require the disk to be inserted in order to play (Atlanta, Chancellorsville, Franklin, Shiloh, Vicksburg), isn't the program only checking to make sure that we actually own a disk but is using the game file folder on our computer? In other words, is it safe to say that the game disk does not require the latest patch to be included in it because the game is referencing the game file on our computer in lieu of the disk?

Ned,

You should be fine. I haven't updated the startup disk in years. I think you just need the original file. Come to think of it, the game would run from the original disk so I don't think you need the patched exe on your startup.

Ned,

All you need on a play disk is a folder with the name of the game "Campaign Gettysburg" with a copy of that game title .exe file (the one with a picture icon) in the folder, startup doesn't check for updates.
