Gentlemen, With the endless renditions of "Dixie," it has occurred to me that perhaps the Southern musical instruments are becoming wornout with the repeated use of certain notes. Perhaps it is time for a new anthem. May I submit for your approval a song about a a Confederate hero that has been arouind for over half a century! JUBILATION T. Why it was Jubilation T. Cornpone; Old "Wouldn't be sworn - pone." Jubilation T. Cornpone, he made the country wait! Stonewall Jackson got his name by standing firm in the fray. Who was known to all his men as good ol' "Paper Mache?" Why it was Jubilation T. Cornpone; ***** Jubilation T. Cornpone, he really saved the day! REPRISE ( FINALE ): Though he's gone to his reward, his mighty torch is still lit. First in war. First in peace. First to holler, "I quit!" Jubilation T. Cornpone; ***** Jubilation T. I think that will go well with the new Union one: As I was walkin' down the road, 'twas on one summer's day What d'you suppose I chanced to see, goin' the other way? Perhaps if there were more Jubilation T. Cornpones on the Confederate side and a bunch of Nathaniel P. Chowders for the Union, there would have been a lot of lives saved from death and ruin. But then, what would WE fight about!!! |
