American Civil War Game Club (ACWGC)

Any members here?

I have been invited to attend a meeting next month, and I just wondered if anyone here would like to share their thoughts on the organization.

I was a paying Honorary Member of a Southern California SUV post for a few years, but never was able to attend any of the meetings. Like any such organization the quality, poise and overall worth of the particular group will be dependent upon its membership and who is in charge. I've found it to be the case that each similar group, including the Civil War Round Tables, which I have attended, are largely controlled by long-term members who've invested a lot of their personal time and consequently feel entitled by it. But one can also find some value in the breadth of knowledge of the group as a whole, and in meeting individuals who share a common theme. But if you're not made to feel welcome at your first meeting, you'll probably have to sit through 4 or 5 of them before someone offers you a beer!

Speaking of beers, this place sure gets dry sometimes! Come on over to the bar with me, Col. Thompson, and I'll buy you a couple for the road!
