Confederate spies snapped the following photograph behind Grant's lines near Fredericksburg last week.

Image

We in the Confederacy join those around the world urging the Lincoln government to refrain from any more cruelty toward our Elephant friends. Mounted Elephant Artillery?! Must be a Republican idea using Elephants rather than Donkeys.

UPDATE

The Lincoln governments Public Relations Representative, Mr. Joe Gobbels, has released the following statement, "We categorically deny the use of Mounted Elephant Artillery! This is simply a Confederate ploy to turn world sympathies against us. We can crush the Rebels underfoot without the use of such barbaric tactics!"

Meanwhile, our spies snapped this photo behind the White House. It is apparent the Lincoln government is attempting to silence all the witnesses of their Animal cruelty!

Well, you see, the camels didn't work out and are running amuck somewhere in New Mexico, so we're trying elephants now. If the elephants keep killing their handlers instead of the Rebs, we'll have to go to water buffalo.

I hear that the rate of attrition for Elephant drivers is appalling. I hope they give them very good ear defenders?

Worse than being an elephant driver, the poor privates who have to clean up after them.

The first picture was an oddity. The second was so bizarre that I had to immediately go and search for "Hanging an Elephant". Such is the nature of the Internet, I feel no better for having increased my knowledge. It's right up there with the "Hartlepool Monkey".
