Was watching a program on the Science Channel, it was about a Sub that the Federals had built a year before the Hunley was built but it was sunk off the North Carolina coast during a hurricane and NOAA and the U.S Navy have been searching for it since 2004. It was developed by a Frenchmen and built up in Philly,Pa in 1863 and it was more advanced then the Hunley. Will be something if they find it, it being the first U.S sub.

Might be the first US submarine, but not the first American sub.

Also built by Yankees.

But the Rebs built the first sub that actually sank an enemy ship.
