Gentlemen of the South!

On behalf of Lt. Mike Pettigano, AotC, I am bringing to your attention the following post he has made in the Battleground Opponents Wanted section! Any old southern TS afficionados still out there...any real, old-time Rebs? Any Confederate Commanders who like their games played with a historical bent?!!! Or have you all forgotten your roots?

*******************************************************

I play very realistically. So I'd appreciate a game against a similar opponent. Historical tactics and strategies. Absolutely no "gaming," like using ZOC or "ant" units (sending one unit behind enemy lines on a suicide mission, simply to wreak havoc).

Sorry for being so specific, but I really enjoy waging battle in historical terms. Keep brigades in line. Use artillery the way it was during that period.

If you're up for that challenge, send me a PM.

Or email me: "mvp129" at gmail dot com

It may be due to the fact that there is a 4 week public holiday in the CSA and it is also Turkey shooting season (which is now all year). I will consult those CSA members still sober and see if we can not rustle up the young gent some opposition

You might be right, Gen. Stiles <salute>...especially when they see the ANV coming down the road... ;-) "If we lie here real still, maybe they'll pass us by...."

I walked by a possum with turkey feathers sticking out of his rear the other day. Might that have been the Yankee high command? He did look to be in some discomfort.

Love the banter going on but the Blue-bellied Lt. still has no opponent. I would enjoy the challenge of fighting a real authentic leader of men even though he may be slightly misguided by all those above him in the chain of command.

Lt. if you are still there, please send a messenger to alhovey@gmail.com with your particulars and we will see if something can be worked out.

Ant units not historical? What Grade school history book was that from?
Both sides sent Brigade size forces behind enemy lines - Stuart, Morgan, Grierson, Dahlgren.
The South had Partisan Rangers in the Valley, Western Md, and Northen VA - and those were often only company size. Agree they should not be "suicide" missions - but they force generals to protect their trains and artillery, which is very historical. If they tie up enemy troops then go for it. If you play the HPS artillery capture rule, there is little temptation to use lone cavalry units to take guns you cannot hold or at least spike.

Well said, General Miller, well said!

Now has anyone seen Fld Lt McWaters? Perhaps he is stuck in the necessary.

Come now Lt, back up your bark with some bite.
