As most of you would expect me to write volumes I will sum it up with ONE word: HURRAH!!!

I joined back in 1998-99 and have enjoyed many fun filled games in the club.

Thanks to all that made it all happen. Denny Richard got me into the club. And some are still trying to get me out!

<<SALUTE>>

I have been a member since sometime between 1997 and 1998 ish. I was not into keeping statistics, but I do know it has been a long, very enjoyable time.

I joined the club in June 2000 and the Army of the Cumberland in July 2000, and I never left it.

I have to say that now that I am closed to my 12th anniversary here I am very happy to be a part of this club!

Thanks to all!

I have to thank and congratulate all the people/members who have contributed to make this 15th Anniversary happen. This club has helped me in so many ways. Llearning and experiencing so many things that have contributed to my personal and professional life. I wish the ACWGC another 15 and more. I see no reason for it not to happen. Too many great people helping out.

As the oldest member of the Club, I will celebrate this Anniversary by taking any challenges, battles, maneuvers during the Month of May. You choose the game, the scenario, the side and rules. I will accommodate as many as are willing to do so. Send a courier to acwgc@wargame.ch and I will be happy to start a game.

Hoorah ACWGC.

My most sincere thanks to all who make this experience possible :D

My particular thanks to Gen. Geo Tarr (the Butcher of Taneytown) who introduced me to the ACWGC and from whom I learned much of my strategy (while fattening up his battle record........lol). Also, Gen Dane Rosell, with whom I have spent many hours chasing, and being chased, across the battlefields of the South.

I first joined the ACWGC about nine years ago. I have had to take a couple of breaks during that span of time including two years out of the club recently but I always kept the club on my favorites list and checked in on it periodically. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to reenlist last month again. There are several things about the club that keep me coming back. First of all, the connection to the history is unlike any other experience and is very important to me. I have been fortunate enough to meet fellow club members at Gettysburg and I can tell you that the class that officers of the ACWGC show in gaming and in interaction in the forums is a clear reflection of their real life personas. Even more importantly, to me, the club has acted as a historical bridge to the past for my son who was able to go to Gettysburg with me and has been showing interest in stratigic gaming as well. In connecting generations to each other and each of us to the past this club is priceless. And all this is just frosting on top of the gaming (which is always fascinating) and just plain meeting nice people from all over the world. So I would like to toast all the fine people that continue to make the ACWGC possible. You are all heros and I thank you from my heart.

Gentlemen,
I'm now an "old hand", after joining the grand Army of the James in 2001. The comraderie (even Ernie) has been excellent. The gaming competitive. The Tavern raids unrelenting. Thank you, with sincere gratitude, for the many hours spent enjoying myself in your company!

Back in late '97 I joined Leadeaters ladder club and started playing the BG series - I was totaly hooked. Soon I met Dave Moser & Mark Adams who convinced me into joining the ACWGC - so in March of '98 I enlisted here. I can honestly say that through this club and the sister ones I have met some outstanding people - and created some long lasting friendships. Have met many of y'all in person and spent hundreds - make that thousands - of hours gaming with some of you.

A round of drinks on me!

I didn't join until Jan 2000 in disbelief that the club had existed for over 2 years without me finding out about it. It was a dream come true and I poured so many hours into this club that for a few years I struggled with whether or not I had said "I do" to the club or to the wife (my memory returned after being jarred out of me by a rolling pin). I wasn't alone in pouring so much time and effort into this passion. There are some fine members in this club and there always has been, but I tend to think of the real good ones that are no longer members of this club but contributed so much to it seeing its 15th anniversary. They all left for various reasons and some of those reasons we never heard about. Some of them were here when the club started and some of them have come and gone in just the past few years but all of them left their mark.

Getting off to a good start is always important for a new member in the club. I hit the jackpot finding an opponent like Mark Nelms with whom I played every scenario on a couple of TS disks (I was Reb at the time and Mark has always been a Yank). By the time Mark and I were going our separate ways, I had already swallowed the club - hook, line, and sinker. There were many great opponents and great people but Mark made the whole affair special.

It was truly memorable to attend the first club get together in Petersburg, Virginia before there was ever a Tillercon. It wasn't anything fancy like the Tillercons became, but it was used kinda like a club conference and changes were implemented based upon ideas tossed around. Getting to meet some of the people was ultra special, people like Rich Hamilton and Jim Thomas and Roger Hulinski and Doug Burke and Jeff Gray and Denis McBride. It's also been special to meet fellow club members at battlefields from time to time. If you get the opportunity to meet other club members, please do it, as we often don't look anything like you thought and for better or for worse our real personalities are often very different from our perceived club personalities.

Here is to the next few years when the last HPS/JT ACW games hit the market and we're then taken into a new realm of ACW gaming by John Tiller with his next ACW series. I just hope that he doesn't take so long that I 'll be senile by the time he markets them.

Posted on behalf of General Gene Nix:

Greeting Yankees and Gentlemen!
I do truly miss the ready camaraderie, story-telling, and battlefield challenges of the CSA-USA ACW Wargamer's club. I was rather hyper-active with the club during the 1999-2005 time period, and had to slow down when I left the Navy and began a new career teaching NJROTC. After some stumbling efforts to resume operations, I found my new work simply demands too much of evenings and weekends. But I have purchased every HPS ACW and Musket-Era title released, and have kept them up to date with upgrades, and occasionally use them in the classroom. I've returned to chess, my first love in wargaming, which has its own demands. But I miss war-games, and occasionally power up a scenario to gaze at the maps and dream of battles.

Best wishes, and Salute!

Gentlemen <salute!>

I joined this club in 2007, can't belive that the time has went by so quickly. But it has been a really fun time! The swedish volunteer brigade march by the review stand saluting the ACWGC.

I hope I will remain in the club for many years to come!
