It is rare to lose a valued member by natural causes, so it is with a saddened heart that I must announce the passing of Brigadier General Jerry Butley of the 2nd Brigade of the 4th (Cavalry)Division "Kansas Dragoons" on May 28th,2012.
I never got to know Jerry but I know many of you did and I would like you to post any memories that you may have of him so that those of us who never knew him might have some idea of the type of guy he was. Jerry will be placed on the Retirement roll and may he rest in peace.

Sincerely,

Drex Ringbloom

Just terrible news, I am very saddened by this. He was a good friend in these Clubs and I worked closely with him in the Prussian Armee at the NWC and the British at the CCC. He held a high command at the Prussian Armee, serving on our General Staff and as a Divisional Commander amongst many other things. He joined the NWC in May of 2008, was a rather decorated officer and held a Nobility Title. At the CCC he served under me in the Hessians and when I was promoted to British Army Command he replaced me as the Hessian Contingent Commander.

I knew bits of his personal life, he was a teacher in Texas, had three young children and was a nice and supportive guy in the Clubs. Always appreciated the work we did and always volunteered for command and to play for the army in Tournaments.

I sent a message to his family, maybe I will hear more. It must of been very sudden as I heard from him in March of this year.

He was key to the future of both armies and a huge hole has been left in our forces. It is truly a sad day.... :(

I found his obituary:

Died way too young, driven to tears by the beautiful pictures. Seems like a was a great man. Rest in Peace Jerry.

Word of Jerry's passing came from his wife, Ashley, who said that her husband's death was unexpected. She stated, "I didn't want you to think that he had abandoned you guys."

Jerry joined the ACWGC in September of 2007 and was an avid HPS gamer. He posted a very respectable 31-4-15-1-23, amassing 526 OBD points. One of his favorite maneuver pals was Maj. Gen. Joe Bukal of the AotT. Jerry was also a member of the Colonial Campaigns Club and the Panzer Campaigns Club.
