I believe all the Union guns are. Us Rebs have the pop guns.

I just finished version i of it. And yes, the yank guns are in batteries and the rebs get the sections. I was lucky enough to play as the yanks this time around. I have now played it twice and it is a great (version i). However, the bridge repair was added in and was not in the tested version, I think, so be careful choosing a scenario because things may play out different than history...

I advertised for a Reb opponent to play one of the monster "McDowell arrives" scenarios but I had no responses. I undertook this battle a manuever with me as the Reb side and I think I understand why I had no interest in my original challenge.

The Reb Artillery in sections is something I have seen complaints about but have never had to suffer myself. Now I am trying to manage it it has me pulling out my hair in frustration and ready to quit in disgust. Every turn seems to be an endless task of sorting through long columns of single Reb guns.

Cam, and the other wonderful gentlemen of the CSA <salute>

I have always felt that the reb arty is protrayed as much more effective than it was in the real world.

However, because it kills a bunch of my troops, that may just be sour grapes on my part

I think the HPS artillery system give the edge to Union guns. Mostly because the game casualtiy calculation gives medium and long range fire to much hitting power and the Union has more of these. However, where it does error is in having no penalty for poor shell ammo for Rebel guns and not tracking ammo by type (allowing Rebs to not fire their little pop guns and using the ammo in their Napoleons and Rifled guns).
