I'm curious to know others' thoughts on the background music for the HPS series games. Which songs are the 'best' ones they included? Which ones are the worst? How have you modified your game to play the music YOU like?

Limited though my game library is at the moment, the worst set of music files for me has to be the set for the Antietam campaign. 'Rebel in the Woods' just sounds hokey. Actually, several songs on there sound hokey, given that it seems like the lady they have singing them tried to make them too 'operatic'. I'm sorry, but "Bonnie Blue Flag" is a MARCH, not an ARIA!

Best ones so far are those in the Atlanta Campaign - particularly the versions of "The Kennesaw Line" and "Wearin' of the Gray". I may have to copy "Wearin' of the Gray" to the other game folders.

I got so annoyed with the Antietam music that I moved all of the included music files and replaced them with music from Bobby Horton's "Songs of the CSA - Vol. I"

The Drums. I always turn off the music as a habit but I recall from years ago the old TS games had a drum roll of some sort and it played at the start of each new phase. Darn near drove me batty.

I've loaded Sultana's Bones from the Corinth game into all the rest. I've done the same with Rebel in the Woods and Wearing O' the Gray.

Sometimes I play my CD by Tom Hook. Similar music as in many of the games.

I've turned the music off on my games, I ripped many of the songs from the games and a couple cd's I have and turned them into mp3 files, then burned a CD with the songs and will run them in the background while playing a game. I also load them into my mp3 player and use them when I walk a battlefield or even occasionally when I'm taking my daily walk. They play for over two hours before they begin to repeat.
